Thanks to everyone for the love and support. I was obviously feeling unsure and guilty, wondering whether I should have tried the "Hail Mary" of steroids (yes, they called it that and clearly we were sounding out of options). However, today I'm finding even more places that I didn't realize Junie had been sick and that assured me that I did the right thing by her. Naturally the little diva didn't make it easy on me as I had to help hold her at the end.
Emily called
Steelmantown Cemetery, the beautiful natural place where her Dad is buried and they said if we bring a shovel, we can inter her ashes with Emily's Dad for no charge. He didn't really know JuneBug but he was the sweetest guy that was adored by the cat that Emily's sister had. Those two will get along wonderfully. Emily's Mom came over for Thanksgiving when I hosted them a few years ago and she liked both of my cats and she has a plot next to her Dad for when it's time. I'm going to save some of the ashes back to make into
a memorial glass art piece.
I've cleaned up the soiled places that I found and put fresh cat beds and padding so hopefully JonJon will be comfortable to rest there again. Not surprisingly he's been velcro kitty but I don't think he fully realizes that she's not coming home yet.
The paperwork has been completed for Dad to officially be on hospice care so it's just a matter of when, now. From the visual they sent me last night, I now know why he hasn't been calling me since I don't know if he has the strength to pick up or to dial the phone. Sis confirmed that they have oxygen plugged in where they'd have the cell plugged in anyway. I texted the brother so that Sis doesn't have to since I know he'd just be nasty to her like he was recently. She's the one there taking care of things as she can so I'm not going to give her trouble.
I went with Emily on a quick trip to Trader Joe's this morning to get a few odds and ends and also to give Emily's sister the cat food that isn't the best for JonJon since he should be eating low phosphorus foods for kidney health.
Anyway, this has taken eons to type so I'm going to go take a break. Love y'all.
