At first the doctor was wondering if I was just there for routine tests when she was wandering through the lobby of which I told her I had another issue to address, which she nodded and we continued on.
Got weighed in with the nurse and it seems every time I expect to gain weight, I do the opposite. I was surprised last time when I weighed 205 since I wasn't eating well due to stress. This time even though I started off with good intentions back in February, eating quickly went back to stress eating. Not big meals but snack snack snack.
So imagine my surprise when I was a little under 197. How the hell did I manage to lose that much weight? Guess the metformin? Weird. They did the automated BP with extra arm-crushing and it sucked at 147/74. At least the 74 was ok, I suppose.
Anyway, I told her about the lumps I discovered which she agrees that it's likely lymph nodes. I also tend to get intertrigo in that area and there were some inflamed follicles so while we wait to see if blood tests show any weirdness, I'm to do warm compresses and she prescribed a topical antifungal. Hopefully that's nothing serious. I got lucky that today was a good stick since I am usually a pincushion.
I took today off to decompress from all the hubbub lately and after the doctor appointment, I drove to the grocery store to start the restocking process. I was going to stop and get a bagel sandwich or something but there weren't any places to stop that were on my side of the road and oddly, even after fasting, I wasn't really hungry. I checked out the Stop & Shop site and made a list last night. Even though I spent about $120, I saved a good chunk of money and also it wasn't all on food since I took advantage of an excellent deal on shave cream and Poise pads. I also earned reward points that translated to $4 off for my next grocery trip.
I purchased a couple of things that were a far better price than FreshDirect so I modified the order that's supposed to arrive between 3-5 tomorrow to take off a few things. Not counting the food that I bought to eat during the 6 days being fridgeless, I'll have things back to mostly normal spending a little over $200. I know that's a lot for some but I did replace most of my condiments and I also have some prepared foods coming tomorrow to get through the hot stretch of weather without having to turn on the stove.
Looking SO forward to Saturday where Emily and I will take the train in to NYC to meet up with
veganhothead. Since Emily is a picky eater and Lyss is vegan and I'm somewhere in between, it wasn't easy to find someplace that would be comfortable for everyone but then it occurred to me that I don't think in all the times I've gone into NYC that I've had a bagel there and I wonder if they taste any different than NJ ones. So we're going to get bagel goodness and eat them in a nearby park. I'm hoping they don't mind indulging the birthday girl with a wander around the greenmarket since that's something else I've always wanted to check out.
I need to baby my health over the next few days so that I'm decently mobile on Saturday. Boy getting old is rough.
