more on writing.

There is no new fic here. As a matter of fact, this is going to be one of those annoyingly introspective "on writing" posts, so if you don't like that kind of thing, go elsewhere.

I have been doing this (keeping an LJ) for about five months, give or take.

In that time, I have made one impossibly precious friend (she's like the One Ring that way, except without the evil associations. Mostly.); met many more cool acquaintances; written twenty-three (give or take) complete fics/drabbles (including one dirtybadwrong!fic that I won't admit to); watched my team miss the World Series by five outs; become a writer, then editor, for an online magazine; gone to Ohio twice; suffered through flu and hangovers; and purchased five bags of Dove chocolates, four pairs of shoes, three purses, four skirts, and something around a dozen tops.

All in all, not a bad five months for someone who started out as a bored Library Assistant who, despite her degree in creative writing, hadn't written much besides e-mails (and occasional faux-Onion articles) in almost two years.

Writing and Fandom related observations:

* I still consider myself primarily a slash writer, although I've written almost all gen/het in the past three months.

* Seth POV was my friend at the beginning. Which is probably why I dislike almost all of it.

* Ryan is by far my favorite thing to write, and I like everything I've written from his POV (which is not something that I can say about others).

* I have developed a recent fascination with writing Summer, even though Summer/Ryan still escapes me.

* My favorite overall fic is Superstitions, which remains un-Jossed. (woo-hoo!)

* 99% of my stuff is unbeta'ed, because I'm snotty and impatient that way.

* At least 75% of my stuff is written in under two hours, mostly when I should be working. (As a matter of fact, I should be working right now. Ha ha, gods of work!)

* Despite the Alias drabble that was written for my sister, I'm a one fandom writer, and will remain so (no matter how much *certain folk* beg for Ryan/Ephram).

* I only write girlsmut for Shima. Which either says something about him, or something about me.

* I have gotten the most positive response for Confessions of an Expatriate, which I really didn't like when I first posted it. As a matter of fact, it and I are estranged like Jimmy and Julie Cooper at the moment, which is why there has been no Expatriate-Universe Ryan fic.

* I think of my muses as tiny people who live in a shoebox under my bed. Therefore, plot bunnies are obviously distantly related to dust bunnies, who also live under my bed. In fact, plot bunnies may be what result when muses and dust bunnies mate, although Muse/Dust Bunny slash is a sadly neglected genre.

* There are approximately 37,689 unfinished/unstarted fics that I have ideas for/have promised people.

* There are approximately 0 in progress.

* I write much less fic now that I write for a magazine. Unfortunately, I am paid for neither.

* I do, however, get to interview celebrities.

* I'm still waiting on Ben McKenzie.

* It WILL happen.

So, anyway, in conclusion, mad thanks to everyone who has read, commented on, recced, or encouraged my writing; whether fic or Lumino-related. You make this fangirl happy, and one day when I'm big and famous and on the OC writing staff, I'll always remember to have my assistant send you holiday cards.

Because I'm good to my friends like that.
