thanksgiving prep
my cooking projects are coming along so nicely! i have made one pie (triple-chocolate pumpkin), crusts for two more (pecan and oatmeal) and the cranberry sauce without totally destroying the kitchen. tonight i've still got to do the mac and cheese, but that's about it! and tomorrow, just fill and bake the other two pies, do up the candied yams, bake the macaroni, and batter for popovers. totally doable. if i get feisty i might make one or both of the pies tonight... i DID make a little pear tart out of the extra pastry dough, which will make a tasty dessert tonight, i hope! it's in the oven now.
my mom has put her back out in the last couple days, so maybe i'll give her a call to see how her prep is going, so i know how much help she'll need tomorrow. i don't want to be stuck here baking pie if she's over at her house in need of help!
by the way, i am loving the weather lately! we've got a chill in the air, we've got rain, we've got skies full of big billowy clouds breezing by. it finally feels like fall, and in the last week of november, that is FINE BY ME. woo!!
