-1 roommate
dennis is gone! not just from our house but from the country. he's gone straight from finishing up his packing to the airport, as he's apparently going on tour in europe. all that is left of him here are a couple of computers he asked to leave till he gets back (didn't want them baking in his car for 6 weeks) and one plastic storage box that i noticed was his after he left (it was under a couple of my boxes, so this is an understandable oversight). oh, and some crap of his in the kitchen that i reminded him to pack at least twice. whatever. i will make a "dennis pile" and put all things i run across there, and he can come pick them up all tidy when he returns.
after he left, ruby and i went down to the garage and took stock. it needed sweeping, so we swept (ok, i swept and she tried to eat leaves out of the dust piles). i moved a few things around so i could check the status of my long-unseen garage cabinets (one of them is completely EMPTY!), tried to inflate my bike tires (one works, one does not... maybe i need a new tube or a new valve or something? i don't know how these things work), and unfurled both of my large area rugs that have been stored in there to see if either would work operation cheap-or-free guest room (i think one will, even without painting the walls! maybe. if it brigthens up a bit with cleaning).
all in all, it hasn't been the MOST productive day but neither has it been the LEAST. i have to be at work in an hour and a halfish and i still have things to do (shower off the grime, take back the rented carpet cleaner, eat dinner, feed the dog) so i'd better hop to it! tonight is a crappy event hosted by the wooden blonde girl from 90210. the list is decent but if it's anything like the last party i covered for this magazine, most of those people won't show up. we'll see.
