reporting for duty
here i am, back again for another post. the more i thought about it today, the more i thought that daily blogging might be a good idea. WHY, i'm not exactly sure, but hey, i'm here, aren't i?
today was a good day... i actually managed to get some stuff done. just laundry and dishes and work, but the laundry especially REALLY needed doing (we're talking 3rd string reject undies, people) so it's a good thing. i also took eddie's tax info to the tax lady, and got the last of my tax stuff in to her as well (i filed an extension in april because i was way too crazed with wedding business to think about something as mundane and tedious as taxes!) so all that should be done and ready for us to file JUST UNDER THE WIRE next wednesday. phew!
tomorrow seems to be the day that dennis will finish moving out. i'm not 100% sure about that but based on the vague, handwavey conversations we've had, i think that is the goal. his piano and organ and other music equipment are all gone, and he hasn't been sleeping here anymore. i can't believe that he'll soon be gone! eddie and i still aren't sure whether we can afford life without a roommate yet, but i think we're going to take a whack at it and see how it goes.
my new goal (once dennis is done moving out) is to turn the basement into a combo office/guest room without spending any money (or at least spending as little money as possible). my mom has a daybed she's willing to lend me, and i imagine between the two of us we must have more than enough extra furniture to make it happen. the real trick there will be to accomplish a guest-room-y feeling in the room. at the moment, it's a bit of a hell-hole, but i just know it has the potential to be lovely. i wonder how much it would cost to pull up the shitty indoor/outdoor carpet... wait, that would not be cheap-or-free. nevermind that. i wonder if i have an area rug i could use to distract from the shitty indoor/outdoor carpet....
