~*Stardust*~

I just finished watching the movie Stardust and it was really good. I watched it on my computer, but I'm definitely going to buy the DVD (which is something I never do).

It was a very sweet and campy sort of movie, and it contains a lot of fantasy elements without taking itself too seriously. In other words, it doesn't fall in love with its own mythology, which is a trap a lot of fantasy stories fall into.

The only negative I see is that it's a bit long. In general, theatrical movies are like, 90 minutes. A decent quality DVD rip for a movie that long is about 700 megs in size. Stardust is currently taking up 1.35 gigs of my hard drive space because the movie is two solid hours and change.

However, the movie really sucks you in. Like I said, it's on the schmaltzy side, but without being cloying or saccharine. It's very action/adventur-y and the story and plot are pretty solid. Also, there are lots of CGI effects to ooh and aah over. Very fun. I liked it a lot. It's a shame it didn't do better at the box office.
