Not Good, Indeed

It's a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the last Saturday of April, to be exact. A slight nip in the air belies the proximity of the Pacific Ocean, but the world outside is draped in the golden pall of spring. All the more reason, then, to lament the fact that I am sitting in the house, eating Mr. Noodles and watching men's figure skating.

I'm sick! Boo! I saw it coming; I even popped half a bottle of Cold FX to stave it off, but the demon still gripped me in its consumptive embrace. Of course, going out last night to watch Game 2 of the Canucks/Ducks series (more on this after obligatory whine) probably didn't do me much good, either.

I'm actually supposed to be at work right now, so the whole "getting outside and enjoying the great outdoors" thing would have been a non-issue, anyway. Still, today I realized that I'm not going to take to old age and infirmity very well. I am always restless, always wanting to be productive, busy, to be doing something meaningful as opposed to dozing on the couch in the middle of the afternoon. What shall I do when the spirit is willing, but the flesh is forever weak?

The Canucks game last night was indeed victorious! After the first game of the series, I began to have serious doubts as to the fate of my team. The Canucks were severely out-played by the bigger, more offensive Ducks in Game 1. Moreover, my sudden, all-consuming love for all things Teemu Selanne made me seriously question where my loyalties lay. In last night's game, however, the Canucks finally got their shit together, bringing their A game and defeating the Ducks in a close, but nevertheless decisive victory.
