I had a spontaneously eventful weekend starting with a free concert ticket to Big Head Todd & the Monsters, accompanied by free beverages(8-9 beer, whiskey and vodka drinks)and followed thereafter by a severe hangover.
I don't know that I had fully recovered when I decided to accompany Ms. Gypsy River Gnome to our old stomping grounds, and stomp ourselves silly we did.
We started off easy with water at Triple Crown listenin to Whistle N Fish. Moved over to Tantra for the famed Henry and the Invisibles. This guy is a one-man show and he makes you wanna D-A-N-C-E.
We moved back to T.C. to see the Billy Bright Trio, a newly formed bluesgrass ensemble that had me kicking up my heels.
We finished off at the Showdown where I was asked out and dipped!
Melody got shout-outs from every band we saw and I remembered why I love how small that town is. We didn't pay any covers, I didn't buy but one drink and I made sure we all got home safely.
The after party brought more beautiful sweet music and a masterful break-in attempt at the Casa del Owrence. Something's really wrong whey you can't appreciate a gaggle of women trying to get into your bedroom at 3 in the morning, or maybe that idea wasn't quite half-baked.
It was past the midnight hour when I struck up a conversation with an attractive redhead who was carrying a 12-pack about. I mentioned how lovely the night was, that it wasn't too hot, wasn't too cold and he remarked with "Yes, it's quite the Goldilocks Paradox."
His blue eyes had that hard edge that told me he came from a disciplined background. His shoulders were square, posture straight and it was a relief because for all his good features, he may have fallen a little short on the stature scale.
We talked Poli Sci and Machavelli and eventually came to the topic of travel.
His family runs an agency, his mother working the insurance aspect and his father does the marketing. He's traveled to Honduras and abroad, he spoke Spanish with a believable accent and I swooned when he successfully utilized the word "nefarious" in conversation. Verifiable word nerd, I am!
We agreed to exchange information so he can help me put together a Europe trip when he returns to Houston to take on the family business.
This fine sample of an Irishman had the hots for me! and I scribbled my number on his arm like a 3rd grader.
He left behind his lighter so I called after him to return it.
We had a small moment together at the end of the driveway and he ventured a kiss, two kisses actually.
It's been such a long time since I've had chemistry, I'd almost forgotten how wonderful it feels.
He asked me to the movies after Thanksgiving and I dare say I'll see him at San Marcos Thanksmas.
Onward, forward, swordward, thusword.
