So, I came home a little early and tried to get a jump start on the weekend chores: laundry, tidying up, etc. I had decided to make a tuna casserole for dinner (no meat Fridays!) and had been craving it all day. The pasta was just finishing when I turned the oven on to heat it up. A few seconds later, there was a loud pop and a bright flash. I looked through the window on the door and realized something inside was on fire. I thought it might be some food or grease, but when I cracked open the door I realized it was the heating element. I turned off the oven, but it wouldn't stop sparking and flames kept burning across the element. So, I called the fire department. My own personal fire department (my husband) was of course not available (he was at work).
Anyway, the firefighters came by, shut off all the power, pulled the stove out and the fire went out. And now I need a new stove! On top of the work I had done on the car this week. I'm afraid of what will go next. We've been in this house 11 years and have had to replace the air conditioning unit, the microwave, both garage door openers, and the washer and dryer. At least I was able to finish cooking dinner in my fancy microwave/convection oven.
In other news, here are some links I've collected in my travels this week:
Voldemort sings How air traffic is controlled. And for those interested, the part of the FAA I work at designs the future airspace and air traffic control.
The perfectionism-procrastination connection. This explains SO SO SO much about me.
