Wow, I have been really crap at updating recently!

I have started this about 4 different times today, only to get interrupted.

So, I'm off to the UK to see foldingstar tomorrow night. I'm very excited but trying to hold it in so my husband doesn't pout. And I've a million and one things to do tonight!

The more I see about the inauguration festivities, the more I am convinced it's going to be a clusterfuck of epic proportions.

Museums will be open, but all of the federal office buildings surrounding the Mall are closed not only to the public but also to employees (we get the day off with pay). I feel for those people who are in the area, but not government employees. Roads, bridges, and tunnels are closed. Metro is advising people not to even try to transfer between lines in the city - either do it farther out or walk. To be honest, this is why, even though I've lived here my entire life, I've never been down here to watch one in person.

Relatedly, go HERE to read an adorable letter Obama wrote to his daughters.

In fandomy things, I saw that John Scalzi is going to be consulting on Stargate: Universe. I don't watch any of the SG shows, but I know several of you do.

And sadly, Ricardo Montalban died. Welcome to Fantasy Island, Mr. Roarke.
