Weekend Update
Another very busy weekend that meant early mornings and long days but they were productive and filled with good things.
A couple of highlights:
- Yesterday evening, I took a break and watched several episodes of Doctor Who on BBCAmerica. My son wandered in during the first one and stayed, cuddled up next to me, through that one and the next two. It wasn't until the end of the third that he figured out why David Tennant was familiar to him. I'm seriously considering buying the DVDs as we both enjoyed it.
- Today was my father's 78th birthday. I'd decided months ago that I was buying him a mobile phone because there have been far too many incidents of him being incommunicado and me fielding frantic calls from my mother. I picked out a very basic model with larger keys and dedicated 911 and ICE buttons. I half expected him to balk at it but he was so pleased and spend most of the morning calling people and listening patiently while I explained how everything worked.
- One of my son's birthday presents was tickets to the American Idol Live concert which was tonight. It was his first real concert so he was very excited. I'm not as big of an AI fan as my husband and son, so I was not expecting to enjoy it but I was really surprised. It was a fun show and you can see how much each of them have benefitted from having more practice time and being able to focus on songs that really showcase their voices. And yes, jlh, there were some lovely Cake moments.
