I'm starting to think that I'm the only person on the Internet who actually enjoyed Island of Happiness and thought that, despite th admittedly poor controls, it was a pretty fun game. I liked how back to basics the games was: for the first time in a long time you weren't rescuing a Harvest Goddess who was turned to stone, or who disapeared or who turned to stone and then disapeared. It seems like everyone else in the HM community wants moar plotz; they go on and on about A Wonderful Life or the Rune Factory spin-offs and how wonderful those games are because they have OMG PLOTZ! What really confuses me is that the universally beloved Harvest Moon 64 doesn't have a plot. Not really. It has some side quests, but most of HM64 is about is farming and making friends. Granted HM64 has better, deeper characterizations than any other Harvest Moon game, but plot-wise, HM64 is pretty thin.
I tend to enjoy HM games that are light on plot; I just want to grow pixel crops and raise pixle cows and marry a cute pixel husband (or wife, depending on the game). Is that so much to ask?! .
I wish HM64 would be released on the VC. That would be so great!
Well, it's time to get to work on today's NaNoWriMo allottment.
