Dear Internet
A pet peeve is a minor annoyance, something that bothers you a lot, but that another individual may not care about at all. So when I see people listing racism, sexism and homophobia as their pet peeves, I have to assume that to them racism is just something that annoys them, something that irks them a little, but in the greater scheme of things it doesn't matter. That to these individuals racism and other forms of discrimination are to them what people bringing more than ten items into an Express Lane is to me.
To sum it up, one of my pet peeves is people who don't know what pet peeve means.
