I got my new tablet on Tuesday. My mother loaned me the money. Thanks Mom!
I got a Bamboo. The actual tablet is larger than my old Graphire, but the actual drawing surface is a good deal smaller. Overall, though, I like it better than the old one. The drawing surface has a different feel to it. It feels more like drawing on paper, so sketching feels a bit more natural. I think I might be able to digitally ink some things now. It's something I've been trying to learn for a long time, but could never really get the hang of. Using the path tool always left an unnatural looking line, but trying to ink using the ink took or the paint brush was too unsteady.
My hours at work have been cut back even further. Right now, they are at the lowest they can be cut back to, but my manager still tried to under-schedule me. It was a big thing and we had to drag the union in. It could have been worse, I could have had to file a grievance. What really pisses me off about the whole thing is that my department manager is our stop steward for our union. You'd think if anyone would have your back, it would be her. I can't help but think she expected me not to fight. I'm not usually assertive. Well, I guess I pick my battles.
