It's a Southern thang.
I've fallen in love with Walk The Line, Libby and I watch it daily. We sing along and bug Rollie senseless, by playing the same chapter over...and over...and over....
Last night while I watched it I had a flash back, Pale Wildwood Flower, sang by Reese "June", in the movie, made me remember my Maw-Maw Lura, strumming and playing that song for my family. Every Summer we had dozens of BBQs and "cookouts". It never failed to hear Maw-Maw or Wanda singing an old Carter Family song or some Mountain folk song.
I think I'll burn her the song, and let her hear the version "these crazy kids, today" have fallen in love with.
Sometimes, when things like this happen, it reminds me....things aren't that fucked up. I still have my family, as weird as they may seem to outsiders, they still keep me grounded.
