My Favourite Things (6th post)

Well, it's that time again. My favourite things (6th post)...

Snow days, chocolate, and soup! (Pics and recipe vid under the cut)

So we're expecting a full on blizzard today. It's already snowing quite a bit. And since we don't have to go anywhere, it's the perfect time to cook, write, read, and watch TV. Basically, a lazy day of win.

Cooking-wise, I tried something new today. A coconut/curry Thai soup. And it was quite yum. I had seen quite a few recipes online, each of them differing from one another. Since I wasn't sure which one would be best, I bought the ingredients that kept recurring. But when I went to try the recipe earlier, I saw that I had forgotten a few things, such as lemongrass, lime, and palm sugar. But I improvised, and made it with what I had. I also swapped the rice for rice noodles. I'm glad I tried it. Next time, I will buy more ingredients and make another variation. Thai food is so yum...

...and so is chocolate ;-) Therefore, we're gonna cap this epic day of awesome with chocolate fondue. Yup, I'm in heaven.

Anyway, I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. If you feel like dropping a comment, I'd love to hear from you. Lata!

That's the view from my kitchen. As you can see, the snow isn't coming down super hard yet.But it will. Also, since we basically live in the woods, we won't get as much blowing snow as some of the other houses and streets in the area. I really love it here.

This is the soup I made. I hadn't planned on taking a photo, so pardon the sloppy presentation. If any of you would like the recipe that I based my version on, I've included the youtube clip below. So yeah okay, her soup looks much better than mine. But I was still happy with how it came out. ;-)
