the week in review
well, the past couple of days have been...
wednesday: parents arrived, then gallatin graduation (nothing like drinking champagne on an empty stomach at 4 in the afternoon with your folks, and having your mom drunkenly hug your advisor). in the evening, my sister and her girlfriend jess rolled in, we all had a nice dinner, and then the girls and i got drunk at Essex.
thursday:
mmm, there's nothing like sitting in the humid haze under a polyester purple gown after little-to-no sleep and with a bit of a hangover.
post graduation, we shopped around soho, had a lovely meal at Counter, and then the girls and i went off to--you guessed it--get drunk at a martini bar on Avenue B that i can never remember the name of.
friday: dreamt that i had one last paper to write. weird. then i packed up my life into 4 boxes and shipped them down to GA. also weird. more good food at Spring Street Natural. (and booze at The Orchard.)
saturday: packed up my bed, and delivered it to katherine in flatbush. i'm now sleeping on my yoga mat, padded with blankets.
parents packed the rest of my furniture into the car, followed by brunch at Teany, and then my parents left for maine. the girls stayed on, and we went up to Central Park and Rockefeller Center and walked around Fifth Avenue and such. headed back downtown, lunched at dojo (the hijiki tofu burger rocked my sister's world). back at the apartment, we crashed for a bit, at which point it started to rain, so we went to whole foods for salads and got some booze and stayed in. apparently jess doesn't need her hands to hold her drink:
sunday: the girls went with me to get inked.
those are cherry blossoms on my lower back, and let me tell you: that's a sensitive spot. yipes. i almost passed out after it was over. there was brunch with many mimosas, after which the girls packed up and headed back to boston and i took a two hour post-tattoo-adrenaline-crash nap. then i went to beller/daw's, saw people, drank white wine out of a jar and vodka mixed in coke zero. then i went over to katrina's and hung out with her and natty for a bit. then home and sleep.
phew.
also: the ticket has been booked. i leave thursday at 11:10 am.
