It's noon on Halloween. The sun is shining down on the old tenenment buildings on the other side of the back yard and on the red and yellow trees, it's lovely and crisp out, and I have just finished eating a late breakfast of toast and Nutella and tea while watching Supernatural. I also want more dudeliness! More woodchippers! Woodchippers and repeating crossbows, and a proper creepy haunted house episode where nothing is actually explained at the end, and which remains haunted...Because there's gotta be some cases that hunters can never close, and it would at least give them a new source of angst.
I like it that the Winchesters are fucked up, because it makes for a complex relationship, but the ramifications of that are never really explored in any sort of realistic language or character development; all the angst is just expressed in stock phrases and motivations, and then they just sound like whiny teenagers. Luckily Bobby is there to metaphorically smack their heads together and tell them to man up. I heart 'Weekend at Bobby's' like nothing since Series 2 (with the possible exception of Death in Chicago. And 'Family Remains', because that scared the ever-loving crap out of me). Someone should really just commission Jensen Ackles to direct a spin-off where Bobby and Rufus and Sherrif Mills and Useless Garth have to clean up post-almost apocalyptic fall-out in South Dakota. It could involve them teaming up with the Native American hunting community to deal with Blair Witch style- nastiness in the Black Hills. Sam and Dean and Castiel could all make drive-by appearances when the main show plot and the spin-off plots intersect (because you could totally make that happen), and then you have a big collaborative finale. IT COULD BE AWESOME. Ahem. Until this happens, I'll be over here, writing fanfic.
Sorry, that was a really long reply! I haven't seen 'Lost Girl', but I did see an ad for it, and it looked rather intriguing - I shall check it out!
