update.........
still moving along with this crazy roller-coaster life of mine.
have had a very nasty cold that was very close to becoming pneumonia if i hadn't gone to the doc today and taken my medicine. starting to get better.
also saw the MS doctor today, and i have an MRI next week. The myelitis/lesion in my cervical spinal cord is progressing unfortunately. i can no longer feel any termperature on the back of my right hand (you could burn or freeze it and i couldn't tell!, and now most temp sense gone from the left) and there may be another lesion in my thoracic spine.... we'll check on that next week and see what happens. This will be my 4th MRI since May.... thats averaging to about once every 2 months this year. i am getting to be a tube expert.... strap me in and run me through! Argh. im pretty worried at this point though. because i've read that a spinal cord lesion/myelitis that does not resolve within the first 3-6 months (especially since i had a steroid treatment in August of over 4 GRAMS of Solu-medrol) usually will not resolve at all or for a long time. This puts me at a higher risk of damage to the cord and potential paralysis. Since the lesion is very high up on my spine (C3/4 i believe) this would be devastating. Hopefully they will have more info from my MRI and be able to come up with a better plan. The steroids were one of the worst hells i have ever gone through and i am not ever doing that again, plus, it just didn't work. So we'll see.
On other notes... school is going extremely well. So far i am just past the mid-term point and i am getting A's in all 4 of my classes. i am enjoying it so much.... learning Italian (for real, and not just my ghetto Sicilian dialect!) has been wonderful and i love my professor. So things are going well. Our apartment is amazing, and setting it all up and slowly getting things we need that we don't have is coming along nicely and its really a lovely place. i also really enjoy our neighborhood.. except for the asshole with the car alarm that goes off like all day every day. i've tried leaving notes on it, even courteous enough to write it in English and spanish just in case, and nothing. im looking into how to file a noise complaint. i am pretty sure if i call the cops they have to actually hear it when they arrive, and since it goes on and off and on and off, it would be a waste. Blah blah blah.
Anyway, despite all the crazy hell that is my central nervous system, i am doing really well, having a blast in school, enjoying life, making lots and lots of really satisfying art (i've had so much creativity the past year and a half!) and just generally being content. its good.
Now if i can only get things going to start having some babies, that would be the icing on the cake. But we've agreed sometime in the next 2 years it will happen. (sigh). That is about it for now. Hope all of my friends are doing well. And Alex, you better write me!!! ;)
