Playing catch-up after Spring Break

Hello, gorgeous blog readers! I'm back from Spring Break. School started last week, although I only go there 3 days a week now. :)))) On school days, the commute and schedules are long, but I love having 3 day weekends.

Speaking of being back from Spring Break, I finally got the spring cleaning in my room done, and with that out of the way, I made curtains. I know, they're like the most boring sewing project ever, but I've been wanting new curtains. My old ones were beige, and my walls are beige. Very dull, indeed! But when I saw this gorgous floral-y fabric at a store near where the sewing expo is (back in February) I knew they would make really cute curtains.

Yes, that is a sewing machine on my desk! My room is nice and oganized to where I can both sew and iron in my room now. No more having to haul the iron and machine out of the closet and taking over the dining room as my sewing room. Although, I can't cut anything out in my room, so I still have to do that in the dining room. ;-)))))

Today's vintage hair (or, vintage-inspired hair) involves both a 1940s style of pinning the front parts of the hair back, combined with a ponytail. I'm trying to ease myself in slowly to wearing more vintage/sewn items everyday, without looking too costume-y (or frizzy - a lot of the vintage hair curling techniques I've been experimenting with make me look like I stuck my finger in a socket and got electrocuted).

I also wore pearls. That was fun.

This weekend's plans include starting my paper on hoboes for history, watching Rosemary's Baby for my Slavic Films class, and trimming the 1850s coat (I have a reenactment the beginning of May, and I have a feeling it will be chilly!) with lots of black velvet. Oh, and sleeping in. That's always important.
