Autumn is in the Air
I really like the new layouts LJ is offering. I chose the Blooming Pink one (or whatever it's called). I really wish there had been a butterfly theme, but I figure flowers go with butterflies...right? Anyway, if you haven't looked at them yet, check 'em out. They're for paid members only, methinks.
The weather around here has been so awesome. Our highs are nice and comfortable, and our lows at night have allowed us to sleep with the windows upstairs open. I'm lovin' it. Just a taste of Autumn as Summer enters its final few weeks. I'm looking forward to the change of the seasons. Autumn is my favorite time of year, with all of the changing colors and the cooler, brisk air.
Things around here are settling some as Nik gets more used to her school schedule. She made mention the other day that she and her "friend--yes, Mom, I made a friend" signed up for one of the clubs. I was hoping she would sign up for a couple, but I'm just ecstatic that she actually signed up for one, and had a friend sign up with her. Hopefully things will continue in this direction.
She's been having several marching band practices, as they are gearing up for their first performance at the home game next Friday. Then on Saturday, they're in a Game Day Parade of one of the universities near here. After that, they're going to perform at the game itself. How cool is that! This is the first year since I was in high school that I'm actually looking forward to high school football season. I'm hoping the good things that are going on around her are sinking into Nik's head. Personally, it does my heart a bit of good to see her smiling and being her silly, giddy self again.
For me, I've been crafting along, as usual. I'm working on some crochet wire Christmas ornaments that are cute! They aren't ready to show yet, but they're getting there. Last night, I made a new bracelet that I don't have photos of yet, but headed out in a few to take some. My latest completed item is this Halloween Keepsake Card:
I'm having a lot of fun creating new things. I've also been working, as business around here is finally picking up a bit. MrD's been working on the living room, redoing the ceiling and painting. It's looking really good. Then we'll work on the dining room and kitchen before venturing into any of the back rooms.
Life is good.
And I'm a happy camper.
