7:00-I woke up begrudgingly and got myself ready to head to appeal the $321 parking ticket my mom got when her handicapped placard fell off the rearview mirror while she was parked in a handicapped spot.
11:15-Walked with mom (in her wheelchair since she wasn't feeling good today, not an easy feat) to the train to head downtown. Decided to take train in lieu of driving because we found out that the Prez was going to be in town. Later found out this was a wise decision because he was only a couple blocks from where we were at the Convention Center.
12:47-Out of the Parking Authority Center, ticket cancelled because we had proof that mom had a placard and had appealed the ticket in a timely manner (YAY!) and headed over to MickeyD's for some lunch before heading home. Upon leaving, we realized that the tire on her wheelchair had come off the track. I was working on getting it back into the track so that we could head home when this tall gentleman (later found out his name was Bill) tapped me on the shoulder and offered to help me get it back in stating that this happened to his wife's wheelchair all the time.
While Bill was helping mom and me, his wife was robbed of $20 she was holding by the man who was hanging around the place looking for money from people. Bill and another man tried to chase him down while Maddie (his wife) and I called the cops. A PPA officer called the incident in to get the cops to respond faster.
By the time we finally got home, I was ready for a nap...so I took one. And it was nice after that day. I didn't get anything else done that I wanted to. Like going to Home Depot or the laundromat. I just hope they catch the bastard that felt the need to steal $20 form a woman in a wheelchair who is living in a shelter. It's really hard to pick on someone who can't fight back.
