Good Times, Great Oldies.

This past week I was lucky enough to see Frank Black twice within four days. What a talented, talented man. Both shows were dynamic and thoroughly enjoyable. Yay.

I also got the chance to drink a fo'ty on my stoop with Colby, like a couple of real Bed-Stuy homies. Word.

Tuesday I was bombarded with tons of extra work at school. Yay money, but boo having to teach new students on short notice, while operating on 3 or 4 hours of sleep (yeah, yeah, whine, whine).

Yesterday, during a lull in my Superbusy Thursday schedule, I got one of my head shots retouched and ordered prints and postcards. I get to pick them up Monday and I'm stoked. Watch out, ye New York directors, agents and casting directors, Alena (in all her cute, yet slightly mischievious glory) will soon be arriving at a desk near you (or at the very least, the desk of a personal assistant or intern near you).

Also, yesterday was the last day of my monologue class. I am seriously going to miss it, but I am really impressed with how much it's helped me. I feel I've accomplished what the class description said I would. My teacher told me that I was "luminescent," but more importantly, I really think auditioning with monologues will now be a dynamic, interesting (maybe even fun?) experience, rather than the pain in the ass that it once was. Pounding the pavement will now commence in earnest.

I want to take another class at T. Schreiber, but I'm not sure which. I am dying to take Terry Schreiber's scene study class, but there are no open spots in it now and it wouldn't work with my current schedule anyway. I'm also really interested in sharpening my on-camera skills, so maybe that's what i'll do next.

This weekend there will be lots of work and some pre-Halloween fun.

Monday, I am substituting for one of the afternoon teachers. I will be at school from 8:30am until 10pm. I will be teaching for 12 hours. 12 hours in the classroom. Ouch. Monday I also start a new class (mostly the same students, but different goals/subject matter). The topic is reading and writing through American Literature. I am soooooooooo dorkily excited.

Tuesday I think I'm going to march in the Halloween Parade in Greenwich Village with some of the other teachers and students from my school. Not sure what I'll be doing for the rest of the night, but I plan to laugh manically at least once. Perhaps I should also make a structured plan to do something spontaneous.
