Nick and I took a one day trip out to Chicago for Wizard Chicago Comic Con. We hadn't decided for sure if we were going to go up until the last minute, but it was SO very worth it! First person I got to meet upon walking into the gigantic dealer's hall was Edward Furlong. No one else was currently at his booth, so I didn't have much time for the full state of star-struck to wear off before I was paying the guy next to him for an autograph. They didn't have change for me, but I really didn't care, it was fully worth the extra $5 for the signature and the picture with him. Now I have the extra bonus of being able to tell people that Edward Furlong owes me five dollars. :D I was always a fan of his in T2 and Brainscan, but I'd never seen any of the other movies he'd been in. After meeting him, I have now made it my mission to watch everything I can get my hands on (and a lot of it is DARK, or cheezy horror, but I'm making it through). I even found and bought the album he made in Japan back in '92. ^^;
I'm lucky to have a patient husband, who hasn't minded the constant influx of movies that he isn't interested in watching and knows I'm only renting for one reason. So far, I recommend The Visitation (Christian Horror, didn't know it fell into that category when I rented it, but it came along at a perfect time in my life), Living & Dying, and The Crow: Wicked Prayer (which I liked more After the movie was finished...some of it is ridiculously campy, but the story was decent).
The other big highlights of the con-
Meeting Felicia Day and Norman Reedus.
Chatting with Noah Hathaway again.
Meeting Peter S. Beagle and having him sign a couple of books (Tamsin and Sleight of Hand). He's been a favorite author of mine since middle school when I read The Last Unicorn. I'm so happy that Nick saw his booth in the Artist Alley. He was so nice!
Hanging out with our convention artist friends.
Going to Mitsuwa! (Matcha Iced Latte....oh where can I find one of those around here??)
In other news, I think that the Universe in general is trying to teach me something, but that's for a different post on another day. I think I've rambled enough for now.
