2011 already?!

Just realized that I haven't posted here in Forever, though I tend to check Friends posts nearly every other day or so. Here's a few things that have been happening:

Injured my knee at the end of October doing a basic kick in Capoeira. The knee hasn't been stable enough to go back to class yet and I miss it. I finally had a hobby. I love capoeira and everything it was doing for me in my life - introducing me to new places, new people, and generally making me more active and healthy. Now I sort of feel like it has been taken away from me and I can only hope that it is temporary. Seems like every time I tell myself that I'm going to go back to class and see what I can do, something happens to remind me how much my stupid knee still hurts and how fragile it might still be right now. When I can't properly restrain dogs, jog, go down stairs, or kneel without pain, maybe I don't really need to be pushing it. I'm trying to stay positive about it, but it does tend to get me down.

I drug my friend Nicole with me to a 6 week course of American Tribal Style belly dancing and loved it! I'm really considering doing it again so that I can progress.

Work has been pretty good lately. The newest coworkers are all fitting in great and have come a long way.

Nick and I took in a new kitten about 4 weeks ago. His name is Alistair the Spicy Pickle. He's an adorable domestic medium haired orange tabby. There will be pictures once I renew my LJ account. I know we didn't need another furry thing around the house, but he was given to me by Dr. S when she discovered she could no longer keep him at her house. Everyone at the clinic was super attached to him because she'd brought him with her to work every day, so I couldn't say no to him!

The last weekend was filled with a lot of rearranging and cleaning so that Fort Awesome can become more awesome.

Started a new weight loss challenge at work. Wish me luck, or better yet, lend me some will power! ^^;

I recommend seeing Tron Legacy. I didn't expect to like it nearly as much as I did!

I recommend reading Divine Misfortune by Lee A. Martinez. I haven't finished it yet, as it's something I've only been reading while hanging out at Borders, but it is hilarious!
I also recommend the Heroes series some of you have heard me talking about by Moira J. Moore. Each book has been a fast read and they have all been very entertaining, even if the female main character can be a little irritating or oblivious (though not to the levels of irritating that Fitz from the Farseer Trilogy reaches). I own the first 5 books, just started reading the 5th tonight, and the 6th comes out later this year!
I'm almost through with the manga series Captive Hearts. It's by the same artist/writer of the manga (made into anime series) Vampire Knight. Simple story, ridiculous, silly, but fun and I've been enjoying it. I didn't read Vampire Knight, but I did watch both seasons and it was the first anime series to addict me to it in a long time. A lot of it made no sense, but it was pretty and had a different take on vampires.

Nick's Kung Fu teacher let us borrow the 5th season of Red Dwarf. I hadn't watched any of that since I was about 18 and I forgot how hilarious it is! We finished the entire season in 3 days and I need to watch more!

That's all for now!
