Why, hello there world!

It's been just over a month since I last posted anything. I've switched up the colors in my layout, so if you want, I'd love to get some feedback on how they work. I think some of the greens might be too bright/light to read. Also, I'm not sure about my header. I just finished seeing the first season of the BBC Robin Hood and wanted to represent something like that, but it might change soon. My favorite part about it is the green, and that's easily transferable to other images, so I guess I'll just wait for some inspiration, or something.

And so. In other news, Megan Whalen Turner is writing a movie treatment of The Thief and shopping it around Hollywood. All I can think is "OH, YES! GEN ON SCREEN!!!" and "OH NO WHAT IF THEY GET IT ALL WRONG!?" But, if MWT is deeply involved, then maybe it'll all turn out. Except then she probably wouldn't be writing the last few books in the series, and we'd have to wait longer. Though, if a movie is ever made, it probably wouldn't be for at least several years yet, so I guess we'll just see how that works out.

Also, I'm kind of on an Arthurian kick at the moment. See, there is this series, known as the Squire's Tales. And my sister and I were at the library and she didn't know what to check out and I suggested them, because I'd read a few several years back and enjoyed them. And she asked me which one was the first one and I told her I had no idea. I'd stumbled across a book called The Savage Damsel and the Dwarf, gotten intrigued enough by the title and the first few pages to check it out. The next time, I checked to see if there were any more by the author and I brought Parsifal's Page home. And so it went, and I was pretty sure I hadn't read all of them, but I seemed to have understood the plot alright even though I was probably missing some. So she chose The Lioness and Her Knight, because the title appealed to her. And she thought it was good and I told her the others were just as good, so she checked out Savage Damsel next. And then she asked again, "Which one's the first one?" And then I decided to actually look it up. So, I read The Squire's Tale for the first time about a week ago. And I have to say, my first thought upon hearing what it was about was "No wonder there was this one guy called Terrence in all the books!" Yes, it took me several years to figure out that not only did Terrence get his own book but was in fact the titular Squire of the series. (I'd wondered about that, and whether there was a book about him somewhere, cause he seemed to be a pretty important character, so I guess I'm not completely dumb.) So she and I have pretty much emptied the library shelves of their Squire's Tale stock and have just finished reading them (her, a first time read; me, a reread). I'd forgotten how good they were. If you haven't read them, you ought to. Now I want to watch Merlin.

The moral of the story is plain: Libraries should always carry the first book of any series. Not the fourth, not the third, not even the second. Otherwise, someone could check out The King of Attolia and completely spoil the previous two books for themselves. (This is in daily peril of happening at my library. KoA, and CoK are on the shelves, but TT and QoA are most definitely not.)

I thought that maybe I could post less than a hundred icons sometime, so.... I've decided to do that! And here they are!

Only 36 this time, mainly from the VDT trailer. :D
