So I was just glancing through this article from the BBC site.
Margaret Chan, a bird flu expert from Hong Kong, is the first Chinese citizen to become the head of a UN agency.
She said reports of bird flu had started to surface in recent weeks after a lull and that the danger was particularly severe in poor countries.
No, really. I had absolutely no idea.
And.....bird flu expert? Uh, last time I heard, getting the job as head honcho at the WHO does not suddenly make you an expert in ANYTHING. She SCREWED UP HONG KONG, for God's sake, and completely messed up the way our healthcare system dealt with the bird flu epidemic. So she's the first Chinese to be head of any UN organization and we really should be all proud and patriotic and shit yadda yadda.......why don't you go tell that to the families of all those who died because of her ineptitude, because of the complete and utter lack of common sense she displayed during not only the epidemic but SARS.
So basically, she fucked up my city and then got the top job in international healthcare. Someone punch her pug face in, please.
