Fisrt, I'm not using Lj-cut simply because I'm too lazy to hit a button. It's not gonna kill you. Deal with it. XD
I should really stop with this Os Mutantes and Novos Baianos obsession... but can you blame me? They're everything I always loved and wanted to be.
Os Mutantes: crazy people making crazy cool and sometimes dissonant music.
Novos Baianos: free loving hippies living all together in a farm
Can it get better than this? No it can't. I really just love them. And because of them I can say that I'm much more open to brazilian music. Music that didn't interest me before and that I didn't have any patience to listen to. But it's how we say here: better now than never!
This post is quite useless and disconected really... this is just a little meme a friend of mine asked me to do it for my journal not to stay that abandoned. What I have to admit... it kinda is XD
So here it is.
Post the lyrics of the three last songs you listened to.
1) Caetano Veloso - London London.
This song is actually quite sad if you think on its background. Caetano has just been expelled from Brazil and sent to England by the dictatorship. He stayed there for two years, and it's a place he never really adapted. Since he was missing Brazil so much, in his words his always beloved country, he wrote this song based on his sadness and feelings about being in a strange place, far away from home, where, quotting the lyrics: he knew he knew no one there to say hello.

I'm wandering round and round, nowhere to go
I'm lonely in London, London is lovely so
I cross the streets without fear
Everybody keeps the way clear
I know I know no one here to say hello
I know they keep the way clear
I am lonely in London without fear
I'm wandering round and round, nowhere to go
While my eyes go looking for flying saucers in the sky (2x)
Oh Sunday, Monday, Autumn pass by me
And people hurry on so peacefully
A group approaches a policeman
He seems so pleased to please them
It's good at least, to live and I agree
He seems so pleased, at least
And it's so good to live in peace
And Sunday, Monday, years, and I agree
While my eyes go looking for flying saucers in the sky
I choose no face to look at, choose no way
I just happen to be here, and it's ok
Green grass, blue eyes, grey sky
God bless silent pain and happiness
I came around to say yes, and I say
While my eyes go looking for flying saucers in the sky
2) Os Mutantes - Balada do Louco (Ballad of the Crazy)
This is probably one of the best lyrics ever. Written by who? Arnaldo of course XD
Last verse is my favorite.
I'm posting the translation of the lyrics ^^

They say I'm crazy for thinking like that.
If I'm very crazy for me being happy.
But crazy is the one who tells me
That he isn't happy. They aren't happy.
If they are beautiful, I'm Alain Delon.
If they are famous, I'm Napoleon.
But crazy is the one who tells me
That he isn't happy. They aren't happy.
I swear that it's better
Not being the normal,
If I can think that God is me.
If they have three cars, I can fly.
If they pray a lot, I'm already in Heaven.
But crazy is the one who tells me
That he isn't happy. They aren't happy.
I swear that it's better
Not being the normal,
If I can think that God is me.
Yes, I am very crazy, I won't get cured.
Now, I'm not the only one who has found peace.
But crazy is the one who tells me
That he isn't happy. I am happy.
3) Novos Baianos - O Samba da Minha Terra (The Samba from My Homeland)

The samba from my homeland
Makes us happy.
When it's sung everyone dances
When it's sung everyone dances
When it's sung everyone dances
The samba from my homeland
Makes us happy.
When it's sung everyone dances
When it's sung everyone dances
When it's sung everyone dances
Who doesn't enjoy samba,
It's not a good fella.
It's messed up in the head
Or messed up on the foot.
I was born with the samba,
In the samba I raised myself.
And from this good samba
I was never separated.
