I realized I never posted photos of my home, and since I got a new camera....Why not break it in??
When you first walk into my house, this is what you see...
That door leads directly to the garage that I can't use :(
Here's all my geeky knick-nacks - maneki neko, daruma, mario stuff, totoro, star wars figures, blah blah blah.
Here's some of my reggae & ska memorabilia. What I've decided to do with some of my favorite flyers, ticket stubs, play lists and stickers that are too cool to use or find unusual sized frames is just get one of these large simple frames from ikea (about $7) and arrange them with all the goods. You can also fit pins in there as well which is cool.
Some of my vintage maiko & geiko postcards. That big one in the center is my favorite, a huge print of a young maiko's misedashi. The banner on the right is a gift from aaron last christmas.
Some more posters and prints. That red cabinet is where all my music & records are locked up!
A view from the kitchen.
This is bella's favorite place - in front of the space heater. Excuse the purpleness of the couch. I bought this one for 90% off at ikea so I could take the other one off to draft a pattern from it. Plus this one isn't as scratchy as the green one.
Some of plants and whatnot. My poor avocado tree is going through transplant shock and the leaves are dying, but thankfully it's already putting on new growth. (it's the one in the guadalupe candle container that the candle was burnt down to nothing & cleaned out.)
Here's part of my kitchen.
And the front of my fridge. Boston terrier pictures, and other random cuteness. And my give em the boot poster that i've had for freaking ever.
Another view of my kitchen. I don't have a dishwasher, but it's no big deal.
A view from by the bathroom. My old beat up specials poster I've had for over 10 years! The back has so much tape on it, it's so sad...
This is where I typically put all my artwork & random stuff I'm working on. I'm not working on much right now except for what's hanging on the wall, which will be a mario question mark block.
A view inside my tiny bathroom. I miss having a tub.
Some of my beauty goods.
Bella loves toilet water for some reason. She'll sometimes throw tantrums if I don't let her have it. What a little jerk.
My cute spiderweb lights. You can also see in the reflection how I store my pins. I had a scrap of vintage fabric, just tacked it to the wall and it makes for easy access and decisions.
I decided to forgo using a jewelry box since vintage bangles are too bulky and necklaces end up in knots. This was just a simple shelf I got from target and refinished. I put clear thumbtacks into the walls to hang necklaces and smaller bracelets on. The other jewelry box above is for earrings and some other precious jewelry that needs to be stored.
I never make my bed. Why? Bella will dig it up and get in there. But after looking at this picture, ugh! Looks so sloppy. I never liked bed skirts, but I may make one now after seeing how bad this looks! So yeah! This is my room! i keep it simple so there's no distractions from sleep.
More ukiyo-e prints.
A japanese scroll and my chest of drawers that I'm borrowing (I saw it in the garage when I moved in, the landlords said I could use it. I love it. it's so cute)
Here's my closet open. I'm not a fan of my closet since it's really slapped together. There's not a proper closet in the whole place. The target bag is for stuff I know bella likes to dig out of the laundry. Also, the red mesh thing is from Ikea in the kids section for toys. It's great for delicates.
And my closet closed. Looks much better..
Another borrowed piece from the landlords.
And bella with her baby on the bed.
Oh, and a while ago, I said I was doing an Obama cross stitch. Here's the progress. It hasn't been going too fast since i only work on it during downtime at work. I kinda screwed up. I cut out a large area of fabric to work with and started at the top, then got sick of that, and then decided to work on the bottom. DUMB. You can see there's nearly two inches on right where they should've met. Well...I guess we all learn. This was my first experince making my own cross stitch pattern and first project that was more than 2" big. Sigh.
Hope you enjoyed coming to my house. And I lied. There's no candy. Sorry.
