So in today's installment of Stuff That Is So Obvious I Don't Even have To Say It, HOW FREKAING HOT IS IT? I am dying. For those of you who don't live here, Melbourne is going through a mini-heatwave right now - for the last 3 days the temperature has peaked at around 43C/109F, which is the highest temperature recorded in Melbourne in six years. This weekend it was supposed to cool down to the low 30s (the 86-90F range) but tomorrow is meant to be 37C/99F so that's not really happening. I never thought I'd be thankful for a 37 degree day though. We have air-conditioning in every room upstairs, but it's struggling, and downstairs we have one split system unit that's doing okay. I'm in here right now with the fan on it's second highest setting blowing my hair around. Thankfully I have no excuse not to be housebound for the next few days, though I did have to go and do uni stuff on Wednesday and I pretty much fainted. A lot of trains got canceled so I had to wait around a lot. It was horrible. And o my f-list there are posts about people getting caught in snow and sleet LOL. This is global warming for you!
Anyhoo, it seems everyone is quite dead/busy right now so I won't natter on too much. All that's really worth reporting is: Commenting at
ohnotheydidnt has been down for a day or so due to ONTD hitting a comment limit for communities that LJ didn't even know existed LOL. Apparently once a community hits 16.2 million comments, commenting gets auto-disabled. So now there's a post in
lj_maintenance about it and everyone has migrated to
ontd while it gets fixed. lol.
So any of you kids that are out there and active do comment and let me know you're still alive in whatever weather you are enduring. Anything happening? Who's back in school? Is anyone else watching the tennis? Nadal is playing Verdasco right now and won the first set (ETA: HOLY CRAP HE LOST THE FIRST SET 7-6. Whatup Nadal, you're the world number 1, start fighting you caveman!) I'm hoping for another epic Federer/Nadal final.
ETA2: Nadal won! Longest match in Australian Open history apparently at just over 5 hours. He's adorable with his broken English. Also he walked out with like seven Australian Open towels lol, and bounced over to the side of the court to give autographs when he was done talking to Jim Courier. WOO FE-DAL FINAL!
