tonight's top story: are there snakes living in your walls?

Sep 29, 2008 00:13

Hello, kids! How are we all. I may not be very coherent tonight. I'll tell you why: see, tomorrow morning is my area's biannual hard rubbish collection day. That's when you dump any big unnecessary object on your front sidewalk and the tip truck comes around really early in the morning, picks it all up, and (I assume) squashes it into someone's six ( Read more... )

I was just scrolling through your last post about that sunset 60 show or whatever its called and Dexter and I was thinking "I wish she would do one of these about a show I like. AND YOU DID. Woo for you, Char. I really loved the new ep of HIMYM and I'm getting a really strong feeling that Stella is the mother but I think thats just what they want us to think. As for the Barney/Robin progression, well you said it all really. I really, really hope they end up getting married (yes, barney, married. and robin, married.) I didn't read your House points yet though because I only got halfway through it last week when I had to go out and I've got the rest on my IQ box but havent got around to it yet because having a new puppy is almost like having a newborn baby (YES I got a puppy! :D ) Basically I'm saying I'll be back to comment on it after I watch it ( ... )

i wonder with stella if they're not doing a similar thing to robin/ted in season 2 - how they got together and were all OTP about it saying they loved each other, but it was obvious there were issues there that lead to their break-up. i think both stella and ted are just really in a hurry to get married in general, and not necessarily to each other. plus ted being ted i feel like he's the kind of character who was probably engaged once or twice before finally getting married for good - he's sentimental that way. though if he doesn't wind up marrying stella then there's been a lot of build up and mother-clue-validation for nothing ( ... )

you make lots of good points in that first paragraph, mostly the would-be stepdaughter though, that seems like it could turn into a huge plothole if Stella was the mother. I also love your Robin/Barney theory but I guess thats why you're the writer here lol.

Do you have an IQ box? It truly is magical but maybe once every 6 months it will malfunction and miss a show. But seriously my life now depends on my IQ, without it I wouldnt be able to watch half the shows I do, so when Ted did his prayer to the Tivo gods I 100% related to it. Also that line of Barneys is still my favourite of the entire series BUT "AHHHSHUWASHA!" as you said it is a veryyyyy close 2nd.

Now that I think about it I suppose they could work around it with the point that Stella's Kid would be an adult by now (and obviously not living with them) and adding in a few other details to iron things out. And we never know, maybe some weird custody stuff happens and Kid goes to live with her dad in the future or something something? And Ted/Stella's kids don't really get to know her too well - or maybe they don't anyway, with the age gap in place. But in general it makes Stella being the mother quite a bit plot-holey. Plus, we're in season 4 now - this is a sitcom. Sitcoms more then any other type of show can last for years and years and years. If she is the mother then the point of the show is gone and it could still last for 5 more seasons before it gets cancelled.
HOWEVER! I do want to address the fact that Ted's kids are in their teens. This means that Ted has to have kids with someone by 2015 at the latest, I would say. Which doesn't leave a heap of time for him to be wed if you think about it! So. Hmm.

Also: Um. I swear this isn't my fault. Since you said you liked it and I was bored waiting for something good/else to start I actually watched another ep and a bit of it. I found it hard to support any characters besides the black guy. I liked the black guy. Though from the rich white folk he referred to as his "parents" I'm assuming he's not an 09er born and bred.

*CRIES HYSTERICALLY* Seriously I love it, I will wait for it on DVD I guess. And trust I know how bad it really is but I'm just a drama junkie, you think I watch H&A for the amazing acting?
