I've been in love with you since the minute I first laid eyes on you

Beware - I believe in Peter/Nathan! I know, so wrong, right. This is also very long - I'm kind of running through how I see each character based on the three eps I've seen so far.

.

Nikki//Micah//Babydaddy's 'Mom' - K so Nikki has been digging like all night and into the day and yet has not broken that much of a sweat nor messed up her hair. And hits the same skull she apparently discovered last episode, during the night. WTF, THAT. Anyway, her storyline made me literally gasp the last two episodes but kind of slowed down in this one; not a lot went on. I love how Micah wakes up and doesn't even think to ask "Mom, why are we in a convertible in the middle of the dangerous Nevada desert?" Because I would. I would also be calling child services to GET ME THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS CRAZY WOMAN. Regardless, Micah still rules. I wish he had more of a purpose then to make Nikki appear sympathetic and her actions justifiable, because he's such a cute little genius.

-----So, Grandma. Talking about how Babydaddy DL is a deadbeat when the kid is right in the next room. SMART! So apparently DL's a murderer, robbed Lindemann and killed his crew. That strikes me as interesting, that Nikki's now wound up taking the same path, even though she didn't choose to it. The basics are there: they both took money, they both got harrassed and they both turned to murder and cover-up. And apparently, neither ended up in jail as it sounds like DL is chilling with the gang over at Prison Break. I bet he's the black one, Suger or whatever his name is, Sucre. (Which, I remind you, is French for sugar). The amusing part of this is PB is on right after Heroes, LMAO. Uh.

-----"You have no idea what I'm capable of". Nikki wins an award in my book for being the first to actually come to terms with her power. Every other character is really struggling but Nikki was, I think, forced to face up to it very quickly by her other half (not yet referred to as Jessica). I'm thinking that may be a factor in why some people consider her character boring - she's using her power for her own benefit due to having dealt with it, while other characters are still reeling and shell shocked at this point. I dunno, that's my spin on it for now.

Claire - I really love Claire, and God how terrible she must feel hearing Suck-Up blabbing on everyday about how awesome and brave she is for saving the dude from the fire. Just the scene with Suck-Up making a big spiel with Claire standing metres away, a little too close to the bonfire: God, that was well shot. God.

-----Skipping back to the start of the ep for a second: I've seen there has been quite a bit of WTF-age as to exactly why Claire wears her cheerleading uniform to school all day. I mean, in 1x01 (where she was walking home) and 1x02 (which took place during a practice) it made a lot more sense, but to have her turning up to school, getting books form her locker, and going to a bonfire all in her uniform just makes me go WHY? Is there some Americanised reason for that I'm not getting? I can understand changing into your uniform early and going to a couple of classes in it to be on time to practice but wearing it all day, I don't get. My only explanation to that is probably a saving-wardrobe issue and also making Hayden look like a teenager - despite the fact she's two months younger then I am, she looks a lot older. Get her in casual in smooth sleek hair, and she can look 20 easily, but keep her in a uniform with frizzy, fluffy hair and she looks more her age. This is all not to say, BTW, that her cheerleading uniform isn't totally cute. Wouldn't it be great if our uniforms here looked like that, eh?

-----Anyway, I'm actually kind of sad that Quarterback turned out to be a completely sexual assaulting jerk there, because I adored the scene with him and Claire by the bonfire. He seemed surprisingly genuine in hindsight, which I guess is the Claire POV effect the writers were going for - seeing him as a cool guy who likes you and then having him turn on you suddenly.

-----The look on Claire's face when Quarterback started listing the small things she does, like the milk and the mermaids - SO PERFECT. The way her smile just kind of faded in mild amazement at it, just so realistic and perfect. And her laugh when she turned around, Hayden is such an amazing actress to get that so right. Again in hindisght, having Suck Up take a few steps forward as they walked away and looking all THIS IS NOT HOW IT WAS MEANT TO HAPPEN is extremely hilarious. You'll get your attempted sexual assault someday, Suck Up. Or not.

------K, so, the ending: OMGWTF SHE DIES! This is the only show where the technical death of a main character doesn't completely shock the audience, LMAO. I knew about this before I saw this ep, but it's fascinating to me that she can't recover until foreign matter is removed from her body, i.e. the stick. What I want to know is, who exactly removed it? Did the autopsy-ist (autopist? though I think the technical term is 'coronor') just pull it out and leave the room for no reason or what? LOL. Also, I assume she has to physically pick up her abdominal skin (ew) and push it together (EW) for it to fuse shut again (EW!!!)? Last line: "Holy shi-" ROFL BEST EVER.

Isaac/Simone - Painting spotlight: TWOP points out that one of the paintings Simone moves is of Claire walking away from Nerdboy in the locker bay as we had seen in the scene prior to that, which is a very boring future event. Which is true, LMAO. I think what they really need to do is have Simone moving paintings of stuff we're yet to see, like one of Claire standing near the bonfire or something. Anyway, moving on:

-----Simone. Hmm. I am tempted to say she's being a but of a bitch, leaving Isaac high and dry like that and not even attempting to understand his power but, you know, she's reacting like anyone else would in that situation. Her first and primary objective when it comes to him is to get him off drugs, which, again, understandable, and selling his paintings was probably the only way. I dunno how I feel about her at this second. I understand both sides of it: hers as explained, and his, knowing that drugs are the only way he's going to be able to predict danger and save people. It's a hypothetical: would you risk your life everyday to have a mere chance of saving another? I guess firefighters and policemen do exactly that. What I don't like is how Simone just scoffs at the idea of his paintings being predictions, even the one on the floor, and not believing in him in the slightest. It sucks. She refuses to believe in the boyfriend she seems pretty damn dedicated to, but she'll believe Peter jumping off the top of a building wasn't a suicide attempt a mere few hours later. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

------Damn, Isaac is hot. I mean, DAMN. I felt for him, sitting there, looking at his full-of-love sketches for Simone. These two, ultimately, are meant to be with each other, despite all the crap. They seem too dedicated not to get together eventually.

Petrelli Bros - I LOVE THESE TWO MORE THEN WORDS CAN EXPRESS. Together, not together, gay, straight, whatever you want, I love both characters. The first scene with these guys - these two touch far more then is appropriate for brothers. Even close brothers. I think they took a page from the Winchester book instead of the, say, I dunno, page from the book of some other show with completely non-incestual brothers (is there such a thing?). I could, of course, have no idea what I'm on about, not being a guy with a brother or having a sister, but I don't know two guys who touch that much. Arms on shoulders, around shoulders, stares, hands on backs, it's all a bit wrong. Or right, whichever way you wish to construe it.

-----"Rebuff the advances of my cute interns?" LOLLLL. Nathan knows Peter's a STUNNA.

-----Peter trying to fly again. One word: OW. OW OW OW. Hurling yourself off a jungle gym is one surefire way to prove your sanity, Peter. The only better way is to climb back up and try it again, WTF. You'd think he'd try jumping off his bed at home instead since his last attempt wound him in hospital. Why haven't we seen his apartment yet, BTW? His outfit this ep wasn't anything special but judging by his outfit in the pilot his house would be all fanatically decorated, I'm sure. Or full of junk.

------Speaking of outfits: there must be something significant in that he and Nathan were dressed very alike in that first scene between them. Blue shirts, black pants, almost identical. Anyhoo, I love how Nathan can't deal with much of anything emotionally. He can't deal with the fact that he flew, he especially can't deal with the fact that Peter got hurt as a result of him flying, so he hides behind his political aspirations to try and forget it all. I think he does that with a lot of things, actually. I think that's again what it came down for Nathan re: Peter and covering up why he jumped; he just can't deal with it all so he tackles it self-servingly, the way he's used to tackling things. It was pretty terrible of him to publicly say that his brother is suicidally depressed, but I think it came down to there not being much other way to handle it. It was still really, really terrible but I think Nathan feels just as terrible about it as we do. I think there's a whole lot more to his character then just this jerk who'd step over dying people to save himself - he just doesn't know any other way.

-----Now, Peter/Simone. Despite the confession and kiss and everything, I still find it hard to believe Peter isn't gay, but that's just me. I know there are people out there who would blink at me strangely for saying that and be all "Peter/Claire!" (though Americans will know that can't work anymore, LOL) but the way he spoke to her in the lobby, the awkward pat on the arm...I don't deny that he is in love with Simone, I just don't think Sim's the one for him and he's not the one for her, either. She's got so much baggage she's like her own bag check desk, or something. I mean if you look at what happened to Peter in this episode - he gave up his career only to have his brother tell him that he's not interested in finding out what happened to them, implying and then telling the world that Peter's a suicidal trainwreck - it points to him being very vulnerable and open to affection of any kind. The same could be said for Simone, after walking out, literally and figuratively, on Isaac. Neither of them, though, are in any place to start anything serious, I don't think. I could be very wrong, though I doubt it.

-----Nathan has a family. I didn't actually see that coming, cause I'm odd like that, though it makes sense. Bets on what is wrong with his "brave" wife are gravely appreciated. TWOP has a poll listing wheelchair, cancer or in a shed because Nathan is a serial killer as the options, and I must admit, Adrian could play creepy real well if he wanted. I think Nathan feels a lot of guilt for a lot of reasons - the 'accident', his wife, his dad, Peter. Running for Congress seems to be a kind of repentance for him, because he's not exactly the kind of guy who wants to help people. I wonder what he'll do when and if he gets there.

-----"To love. May we stay away from it when it's no good for us." THE WAY PETER'S FACE FALLS. And then Nathan chooses such a perfect moment to butt in. Sigh.

-----The Peter/Simone kiss in the rain: such a perfect moment. I love that she believed him when Nathan didn't, even though it doesn't roll with her not believing Isaac. Why is that not me under that umbrella making out with Milo, I ask?

Oh, Petrelli boys. You bring the angst in big doses. HOW I LOVE THEE.

Matt - I like this semi-new character we have here. His power rules in major doses, and the way he deals with it is so normal, so realistic, so down to earth, I dig him. Also, I find Grunberg very good looking in a different sorta way. He plays the most perfect cop (and the most perfect pilot, as I recall in Lost, and the most perfect spy-guy as I recall in Alias, and the most perfect [insert job] in [insert JJ show]). What I mean to say is that he's the kind of good-looking you'd expect to see on the street, in a slightly above-average job protecting people. What I'm saying is I dig having a fandom involving Grunberg. He also does the best photos.

-----In this show, the way the characters deal with their newfound powers says a lot about them and I adore how Matt deals with his: going to the bar and looking at all the people, honing his powers and laughing and reeling at what they're all really thinking. I like how the bitter husband in the corner was all 'Why is he staring at me? Is Grunberg checking me out? OMG HE IS!' He has the power to do a lot of good to people, not in a world changing way, but small and ineffectually. And black guy making him collapse through thought? SO CREEPY. BE ALIVE, GRUNBERG!

-----It kinda sucks that Matt's the guy with the messed up, falling apart marriage. I was rooting for him to come home to a really nice girl who curls up in his arms and tells him everything, but whatever, I can handle the angst too. I like some good realistic marriage issues cause there's just not enough of it depicted. Both of them seem to really be trying to make it work, she's just angry and at the end of her rope, he's just stuck not knowing why. I LOVED how he read her mind and left like that. Perfect.

-----This is a (very cute and not very effectual) related spoiler so I'm putting it in white (highlight following to read): Wikipedia reports that Matt later uses his powers, not only to talk a guy out of a bank robbery, but to "listen to his wife's thoughts and give her everything she wants. They stay home from work, he cooks for her, and is the perfect lover." For some reason this makes me go EEEEE, as does everything else it reports on upcoming Matt storylines. I think I dig this guy. A lot.

Stuff I am Ignoring In This Re-cap: Hiro/Ando - it didn't really excite me, them coming to America and chasing the comic book. Them re-enacting scenes from the book got old pretty fast.
Mohinder - UGH. SO BORING. I really don't like him. Also, his voiceover's accent is getting a bit twisted. I barely recognized it as him in the opening there. Boringgg.

THAT IS ALL. THIS SHOW IS AWESOMESAUCE. It's like taken over my brain lately.

ETA:: Heroes castspam, mostly Hayden shopping, walking her dog and being adorable. I mean, she's walking her dog in the same jumper she went to the pre-Golden Globes swag event in (which I want). AND SLIPPERS. Still doesn't register that she's actually a few months younger then me.

heroes, recap
