Those who find themselves ridiculous, sit down next to me

Thanks for all the kind comments on my last post. I couldn't reply but I really appreciated them :)

Question: those of you who get LJ comments emailed to your inbox, have you ever tried replying to them from there (your email) instead of replying on LJ? I get LJ stuff emailed to my Gmail account. For some reason I'm too scared to try the reply option (it's bound to screw something up, though I can't imagine what). So do any of you know if it works?

I think I forgot to mention that I finished tutoring last week. It was so nice to be able to sleep till 9 this morning, instead of 6! Pure bliss! :D

I'm now teaching a Grade 7 boy with dyslexia Afrikaans. It's not going all that well, and it's only about 4 or 5 weeks till his exams (and I only see him for 1 hour a week)!! I'm doing it as a sort of favour to a lady in my church who does this for a living. She's now moved in with her daughter and son-in-law to help with their new baby, so she can't take all her students anymore. As he lives (literally) up the road from me and she couldn't find anyone else to do it, I said I'd help out. But really, this is remedial teaching, which I have no experience with, so I don't know if I'm doing him any good :(

Yesterday afternoon I took my CV to the local Exclusive Books (SA's biggest bookshop chain) in the hope that they'll have a part time job for me. So now I'm waiting with bated breath to hear from them... If I haven't heard from them by Monday I'll take my CV to some other places too, but I really want to work at Exclusives!

I've been on Last.fm for a while now. It's fun, but I've found that instead of discovering new music, I'm rediscovering old stuff I used to like and had forgotten about. Like britpop and 80s music. And then while I was thinking about how good britpop is/was, I remembered that I used to have a mixed tape that a friend in high school had copied for me from her brother's CD, with all sorts of cool 90s stuff that I used to love. So I dug it out and started listening to it again. And I've now decided that the 90s really was the best music decade. There's nothing better than a good dose of Oasis, Radiohead or Smashing Pumpkins *sigh*
I've been singing along to it while driving, getting some funny looks from people, but I don't care, it's just so good:

I'm freeeeeeee to be whatever I
Whatever I choose
And I'll sing the blues if I want

I'm freeeeeeee to say whatever I
Whatever I like
If it's wrong or right it's alright
(Lyrics brought to you by LetsSingIt, one of the best lyrics sites on the web IMO). Which brings me to...

Cool links!!:

* Debbie's Idea - So you want to try out a new author, but you don't know which book to read first? Search for the author and see what other people have recommended! It's a wiki and it seems to be quite new so there are some authors that don't have much info yet, but it's still a cool site :)

* Linux illusion scarf - for Linux fans who knit :) It's a cool concept. I'd never heard about illusion knitting before, but it looks awesome!

* Monsters!! I want one!! :D
