family party!!

i just got starbucks. weird. we had a "kickback" this week. it was fun. lots of people came and i didn't get to bed till four-something in the morning. thank goodness it was on thursday night and i have no class on fridays. i'm trying to get my relay for life team together. we were trying to figure out a team name the other day and the best anyone could come up with was Lone Rangers (shaun's input). if anyone has any good suggestions, lemme know. yesterday was my cousin prabjit's 5th birthday party. it has basically the talk of the family for the past month or so. definitely not a good day appearance-wise. i accidentally left my make-up bag in davis! how stupid can i be? i didn't even notice till saturday either. i had to run out real quick and buy some basic stuff and use up my sister's. i also forgot the shoes i was planning on wearing and had to settle for black ones that i'm not particularly fond of. the outfit i had planned on wearing was something my chachi chose out for me. it was a green sleeveless suit with pretty hot pink embroidery. mom gave it to this lady named saroj (my friend roma's aunt) to be altered. the lady usually does all our altering but i don't like her much. she always messes up on my stuff. when i came home and went to look at the altered clothing, my suit looked a bit different. it took me a few seconds to realize what the matter was. saroj sewed on sleeves to my suit!! if you don't already know, a lot of indian sleeveless suits come with sleeves that can be attached if the purchaser so wishes. i did NOT want sleeves. why? the suit was already not really that much of a party suit, and with the sleeves, it looked even less like one. i was pissed! no make-up, ugly shoes, and an unsuitable outfit. i decided on wearing another suit that i had given to be altered. it was a lil plain but i dressed it up a bit and it ended up being perfect for the night. the party was pretty fun. for the first half hour or so, all i did was say hi to all the relatives. there were a lot of tables but the place felt empty. probably because all the men were standing in the back by the bar and all the women were conversing in lil bunches all over the place. the birthday cake was nasty. everyone was so astonished to see me there because i rarely make it to family events anymore. surena was my savior for the night. we danced together and took tons of pictures. gurp, preet's boyfriend, and navi were the DJs. they did a decent job. it was nice seeing all of the family and playing with the lil kids. the night started off kind of lame, picked up quite a bit, then got lame again at the end because all the drunk men took over the dance floor. they kept requesting all these old ass punjabi songs and falling all over the place. it was fun to watch, i guess. surena's dad kept wanting to dance with balloons and then he fell on the dance floor. it was too funny. kobe's friend mandev's brother's wedding was in the hall next door. a lot of the guys from yuba were over there and kept walking in and out of our party. surena and i even went over the the reception for a bit. my aunt from seattle was down for the party. i was so excited to see her. definitely a highlight of my weekend. good weekend. too bad now i have to study my ass off because midterms are starting. hope everyone else had a fun weekend too!!

xoxo
