i'm just waking up, swaddled in sunlight and wrapped in your gaze. your fingertips trace letters onto my palm; you murmer the words into my ear. a lullabye, it seems.
" beautiful dreamer, wake unto me... "
i adore you when you're like this, then you beg me to call you James-dear and you pull out vivid sundresses for me to wear. you will ask me to count the stars for you, and i will laugh and tell you that the only stars i can see are those hung in your eyes.
the rain hits the window in a scissoring roll, epic and triumphant and glorious and you tell me that you can hear a waltz ( onetwothreeonetwothreeonetwothree ) and oh, here's the key change, and now, listen, the tempo shifts. you will sweep me up, all skirts and swirling satin, and twirl me into a sprawling polka where my toes paint Monet onto the floor and your arms hold me closer to you than wet denium to flesh - and you will grin down at me with a smile that sings; all laughing eyes and storybooks.
