Things that are not
Freezer Burn:
* I have been podficced for the very first time!
arwen_lune has performed "The Legend of Smedley Duckler, the Fighting Quacker" and uploaded it to AO3.
* On a related note, I uploaded
the text version of the story in preparation/anticipation of that and then "
The Care and Feeding of a CO" because
ileliberte wanted an e-reader-compatible version. In short, I do take requests for upload to AO3. I've added a link on my sidebar for what I have there, which is not everything by a long shot, so if there's something you'd like that isn't there, say so.
* I found this on tumblr and have already shown a few people, but
quality Namor humor is worth sharing to all.
* Saw The Bourne Legacy last week and it was acceptable -- Jeremy Renner's more entertaining than Matt Damon -- right up until it jumped the shark by bringing in the T-1000 model Terminator. No, seriously, they even gave him Robert Patrick's sunglasses and sent them chasing around on motorbikes. It still works as the Hawkeye feeder movie Marvel's not going to give us, though.
Did like the trailer for
End of Watch. It's apparently done found-footage style, with everything shot on hand-cameras, iPhones, and other shaky-cam options, so it won't be for anyone who can't watch that stuff without getting dizzy or seasick (
cofax7 take care), but it's by the same guy who did Training Day, so it might be fun.
*
Argo debuted at TIFF and apparently rocked the house. 'Hometown' bias aside, the critics seem to like it, too. I am so looking forward to this flick.
* The Atlantic's business blog takes a look at how
no, spending public money for a sports arena never is a good idea because you really aren't ever going to get that money back. They focus on the train wreck that is the NHL Phoenix Coyotes (validating the Goldwater Institute's arguments), but it has wider sports applicability.
As a side note, how crack-addled was
ESPN's big list of best-to-worst franchises that they put the Yotes -- in bankruptcy and owned by the league for the last three years because nobody will buy them -- as the best NHL team and the Toronto Maple Leafs as the worst franchise in pro sports? How are the Leafs worse than the Islanders or Blue Jackets, let alone some of the disasters in the NBA and MLB?
