stuff about stuff

It's hot out. It's effectively Monday. Caveat lector.

* It's really hot out.

* The Germans aren't extraditing a Nazi war criminal... because Hitler granted him citizenship as a reward. Faber was sentenced to death after being convicted of war crimes in 1947. But his sentence was commuted to life imprisonment, and in 1952 he escaped from prison in Breda, Holland, and fled to sanctuary in Germany.

Demands by Britain and other nations to hand over Faber - listed as the fifth most-wanted Nazi fugitive - have since been rejected by Germany.
* Obama wants 'improving relations with the Muslim world' to be NASA's 'foremost' goal. (Goals two and three have nothing to do with space, either.) At the risk of being crude: we killed the only Israeli astronaut; I'm not sure what else there is to be done on that front by our space program.

* Yes, it's an ad for Rick Lazio, but it's also a great snapshot of just how bad things are economically here in NY.

* Bob Probert was trouble, both on and off the ice. "Give Blood, Fight Probie" and "Bruise Brothers" (with Joey Kocur) t-shirts celebrating the most respected and feared fighter in the game... and also the coke, the booze, the felony drug arrests that kept him from being able to travel to Canada for road games because he'd never be let back into the country, Goose Loonies. RIP.

* To end on an up note: IDF patrol busts a (dance) move in Hebron
