SGA: 3x07 drabble redux

Aug 27, 2006 23:33

Yes, yes, a half-dozen WIP and I'm drabbling. Far too late on a work night. "Common Ground" drabble, take two. This time, with Lorne.

He'd ended up in one of the spires at a far edge of the city )

lorne season 3, fic, sga

Beer, shmeer.

I guarantee you Zelenka has constructed a samogon machine the first night in Atlantis.

And if Reletti is not helping his run it, I will be very disappointed.

Back when I was in school, the engineering students never shared their swill with the football players.

I always like Lorne Sheppard interactions. There's the XO to commander respect but also a very nice understanding between the two on an equal basis. No angsting and no instant recovery, I like that. And here it's not a I-feel-no-pain facade but a very real kind of trying-to-get-over-it without having to deal with the much more palpable anxiety of the people who witnessed it. And as always, Atlantis keeping John's secrets is really nice. My friends' list is a rewarding place to be tonight :)

Lorne and Sheppard are on the same wavelength, yes. Which is good because sometimes it seems like nobody else is.

John's been captured so many times in Pegasus, he's got sort of a routine for it. But something like this, there's no way a routine covers it because he doesn't have anyone to defray the anxiety.

Glad you liked. :)

Excellent. I love Sheppard and Lorne interacting--both professionals, but also genuine warmth and friendship. That was just--yeah. Warm and happy fuzzies all around.

Camaraderie through illicit booze and inappropriate humor because they both know what the alternative is.

Thanks. :)

Very nice XO/CO interaction going there. Reminds me of one of the COs I had whilst I was an XO. I think one of the finest aspects of your stories is that Sheppard has someone around that he can relate to on a professional as well as a personal level. McKay and he are friends but McKay still doesn't "get" the military mindset, nor does Elizabeth or half the expedition.

And um... captured together and overthrew a country? IS this one of the WIPS we're waiting for?

It was supposed to be a reference to Coup D'Etat. :)

John doesn't doubt that McKay cares deeply -- he showed up, didn't he -- but Rodney's a kind of high-maintenance that John doesn't have the energy to tend to all of the time.

Glad you liked -- and good to see you again.

Good to be back. I did want to thank you for putting together the fiction time line. It does add to the verisimilitude of the universe you are crafting around and under the series.
