Some very dear friends of mine have suddenly found themselves the unwitting new adoptive parents of two abandoned kittens. They have exhausted every avenue that you can think of and practically every agency bar the Cat Protection Society wants to charge them a 'removal' fee ($200) and an 'abandonment' fee - AND THEY ARE NOT THEIR CATS. No wonder people don't want to do the right thing anymore - trying to navigate the proverbial red tape is akin to auto-asphyxiation - damned if you do, damned if you do. In amongst all this, I just can't believe that the unwanted Christmas gift still happens in this day and age ...
Anyway.
They already have one highly anxious pedigree Russian Blue and two small children of the cat-tail-pulling-for-fun variety - they simply cannot take on anymore animals. Cat Protection Society may (or may not) be able to 'possibly' pick them up next week. In the mean time, Henri the Russian Blue is tearing even more hair out :(
I'll have a better description tomorrow but for now I can say that one is a delightful gray and beige stripey/spotty tabby and the other is absolutely, totally black .. and is typically a little more aloof :)
As I said, more information and pictures to follow tomorrow night. I'd like to see these little guys stay together .. I think they have been through enough :(
If anyone could suggest communities to post a more detailed story in then please do so. Please also pass it on to your nicer friends.
The phone call came in just after I finished watching
Bondi Vet - a show guaranteed to tug at the heart strings of any animal lover. I dare you to not tear up over a little dog that almost lost the fight with a red bellied black snake or even worse, the sweet little puppy who was the beloved companion of a lonely guy - some right bastard thought it was funny to unleash the dog while her owner was in a shop. The confused dog-like dog then got hit by a car (hit and run) ... doggie was such a little fighter. The head injury was severe (massive subdural hematoma/blindness) and then finally the xrays came back - severed spinal cord. Puppy - put down :(
I just don't understand how things like this happen. A perfectly happy and very loved pet one moment, victim of not one but two random acts of c*ntishness within moments.
Every week I say I can't watch this show anymore and still I do. Because the successes outweigh the tragedies usually *sigh* Everyday I love my 'babies' more ...
So yes - cattuns anyone???
