Back when I started this thing over 4.5 years ago, a fabulous weekend usually involved all manner of self destructive habits ... but not anymore :)
Friday I was taken out for dinner at
The Razors Edge restaurant by the lovely
kharysma. It was relaxing, the food was wonderful and I think I have a fellow convert. I'm glad she doesn't expect an exciting night out with me anymore (if indeed she ever did!) :D
If anyone is planning on going there though please note that the $48.00/3 course special is now only available Tue-Thu but I think two courses are enough - 3 is just greedy!
Saturday I was up early to meet up with
flamingo_1210 and her two lovely daughters at the
Sydney Vintage Clothing, Jewelery and Textiles Show at Canterbury Racecourse. I was the only one to purchase anything and I showed remarkable restraint! I bought a brooch for my new Pashmina (yes - you heard me - Pashmina) and a lovely black and white gingham frilly apron. Ironic really, considering I don't cook :)
There was an embarrassing moment when I went to pay for the winter coat of my dreams. I could have sworn she said '$65.00' so I handed her $70.00. She looked at me expectantly while I waited for my change and advised that the coat was $120.00. It's amazing how the brain works ... I guess I really wanted her to say $65.00 and convinced myself that she did. So unfortunately the coat of love made it's way back to the rack :(
I did half-heartedly attempt the ATM line but the queue was half an hour long. Lucky I didn't wait because it (temporarily) ran out of cash. It was most definitely a sign *sigh*. Was sorry that
frou_frou was up from Melbourne for the event the day before ... how did you go love?
If I go next year I will be ready for it. I also realised that a lot of the stuff that I have ended up with from Mum's place (that originally belonged to Grandma) is actually 'vintage' (yes, I am a slow study on this subject) ... not sure if I could ever sell it though.
The evening was spent feeling a little glum. I received letters from lawyers and signed forms from my sister in the post on Friday and it just drove home the point that we (read: I) have a lot of work to do. I also had a moment as I fell asleep on Friday that Mum was near me. I'm not a strong believer in all things esoteric but I could feel her nearby and she was smiling ... I've mentioned before that seeing her smile is something I would do almost anything for. I'm not closing my mind to anything like this anymore - it was confusing and sad and yet almost peaceful at the same time :)
Sunday was a semi-productive day. I had planned on a day of nothing but that plan never lasts for long. Plants are re-potted, kitchen floor tiles are scrubbed and brought back to white, laundry done/put away, emails sent to lawyers and a prospective real estate agent for the sale of the house etc. Today was definitely not a wasted day.
And then?? Finally -
Carlton FC won their first game in 14 matches and OMG what a game! My boss (The Owner not the manager) was actually at the game in Melbourne so there was post-match sms'ing. I rarely talk to the man but we do have that one thing in common! What a way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon :)
Coming up soon is my usual Sunday night fare
So You Think You Can Dance, accompanied by
suit_dude's always fabulous Roast Chicken dinner.
There was very little alcohol consumed this weekend - very little. I also hope to start back at the gym tomorrow. It's been 2 months. Unfortunately I paid for those two months before they stopped the payments for me (what a great gym!) so I get the next two months before I start paying again. Which is good because I have undone all the good I had done and I'm having to watch the pennies, what with paying Mum's estate bills as well as my own.
Right. That's me done posting for the week (or a few days at least). Hope you all had a great weekend, *hugs* to those that are going through trying times and virtual chicken soup for those that have been suffering ill health ... no more hospitalisations please!!
