As the Power Goes Out

As previously mentioned, I went to Vegas this past weekend for a Trade Show wth Wildfire. I had to be up at the ugly hour of 4am in order to make my flight. Groggily, I sped up the 405 freeway and eventually exited Sepulveda and began my short search for the parking garage where my boss suggested I leave my car. I didn't quite make it there. My car lights slowly dimmed and all power ceased. I sat half in the middle of a driveway and half on the busy street, in the dark, wishing for my car to start just long enough to make it all the way out of traffic. I could have wished all I wanted because there was no juice left in my land boat. The alternator had died. With the assistance of kind stranger, I managed to get my car into a parking lot where I rushed off in hopes of making my flight for work.

What expectations did I have for the weekend ahead of me? I had hopes that I'd enjoy myself despite being forced to work on my days off, but those hopes fell flat the minute I arrived at LDI. Orders were barked at me the moment my foot touched the plush carpet of our booth and continued throughout the weekend. My only saving grace was an empty hotel room waiting for me at the end of a very long day.

I returned on Sunday having seen nothing of Vegas but the inside of the hotel, and not all of it, as well as the trade show. I could have been in almost any town in the world save for the slot machines which were everywhere. My return trip home was welcomed with open arms despite having to deal with a dead car waiting silent back in Los Angeles. Thankfully, I have some of the most amazing friends a person could ask for and they happily helped me retrieve my car and got me safely home.

My car has been repaired and shall be retrieved this evening. I think I want a margarita and some mexican food. Want to join me?
