Throughlines relating to Henry Kaufman's "The Memory of Your Touch"
"The Memory of Your Touch" reminds me of a lot of things. It makes me think about deja vu and the idea of being somewhere that you have already been. This piece involves the viewer's handprint being recorded on a screen. The viewer then gets to be in two places at once, in a sense.
Interactive Art is a new media that is blowing up into a huge ordeal. A lot of new media artists are interested in interactive art, and Henry Kaufman's "The Memory of Your Touch" is a prime example. His viewers do not only get to view the piece, but can become part of it as well if they wish.
"The Memory of Your Touch" also relates to society today. Whether it is through art, or whatever it may be, every citizen leaves a unique mark everyday, every year and every month of their life. By the viewers of this piece leaving their handprint on the piece, it is their mark of once being there; once affecting the piece.

Lesson ideas relating to Henry Kaufman's "The Memory of Your Touch"
Bringing my students to paint a mural is a perfect example of artwork that a child is capable of doing that relates to leaving a mark on society.
Taking my students to the beach to build sandcastles would also be a fun project relating to these throughlines. The sandcastles may not last forever, but will be there long enough for another person to see them.
I could have my students collaborate and make a childrens book. They could write it and illustrate it. I could bring them to read it to grades younger than them, and that way they are making art and affecting others.
