I haven't done anything else with the stripy green dress. I still need to flatline and piece the front and the sleeves, as well as hem the underskirt. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut since I won't be going to the Steampunk World Fair this weekend it's not a huge rush. I just want to finish it before the end of the month.

The reason why I'm not going to the SWF? A friend of mine is coming from Finland, and is stopping in NYC for a few days to spend time with me and a couple other people. She originally had a hostel reservation, but that was cancelled when the hostel was closed, so she'll be staying with me instead. And it'll be much cheaper to take the train to Manhattan the two full days she'll be here rather than finding someplace new to stay for three nights. :3 The only downside? She's flying in to JFK on Sunday and out of LaGuardia on Wednesday. I hate LaGuardia. Dx

In other news- I pieced the canopy of my parasol! It's just pinned onto the frame right now, because I can't sew it until I have the lining done too, because they kind of both need to go on at the same time. xD Originally I was going to do a black canopy with a gold lining, but that plan has changed. Instead I used the antique gold silk as the canopy, and for the lining I dug a lovely (though synthetic) crinkled gold/bronze/magenta-ish striped gauzy fabric out of the stash. I'm trying to decide if I want to piece the lining into wedges like the outside, or a gathered/shirred lining to keep all the stripes intact. Since it's a fairly thin fabric I think it wouldn't be too bulky when folded, but I might experiment a bit first. I also want to do some type of trim on the outside as well, but I'll need to look for something that'll match the purply-red of the gauze. I might bring a swatch with me to NYC next week if I get a chance to hit any of the trip stores.

I think I also need to do an accessories post with my parasol and purses and hats once I get them all finished. Especially if I knock out a hat for the blue gauze bustle in the near future as well.
