when did you start writing, and why? (they are two, but let's pretend they are one...)

That's a good question!!!

I always had an interest in creative writing, in school I got an award (called an Acorn Award because the school was called The Oaks) for a poem I wrote about snow.

I've always watched a lot of soap operas and when I got that little bit older (in high school) I used to come up with ideas of what I wanted to happen. They were always quite dramatic stories that I came up with in my mind. So I started writing them in my head and eventually noted a few down.

I started writing 'properly' when I was 16, I joined a message board for the singer Delta Goodrem and I started writing fanfiction with a group of people. It was about the little community we'd built up as much as the writing itself. But it was a springboard into being something I loved. The more I did that the more I enjoyed it.

And the rest, as they say, is history...

Now on to you; how long have you been part of fandoms and which was your first fandom?

Ouch, that's an hard one... the first proper fanfom I've been part of had been about the Marvel comic books, whan I was 13 and there wasn't any Marvel movie out yet. I was a very avid follower of forums and communities, even if I didn't reach my fullest potential until the age of 18, when I got obsessed. I've almost completely abandoned the marvel comic books now- just few things every now and then, I've became quite selective, but thanks to them I've been into fandoms for almosr 16 years.

That's really interesting, I think perhaps most people's 'first' fandom is something they don't necessarily still follow.

well, in comparison to back then, I'd say I follow, I think, 2-3 % of what I used to...

Yeah! I think that comes with growing up...I used to be a lot more active within my past fandoms, but as time moves on and new fandoms appear, it's not always that easy, is it?!

it's alos the fact that there are things I still feel "connected" too, and that I like, and I prefer being immerse in other fandoms. Back then, for example, I would follow any X-Men or Green Lantern title. Now I'm done with all the Green lantern titles (well, all of DC comics minus one title) amd I follow just a couple of X-Men titles.

That makes sense! Kind of like how when a tv show finishes or a film is over, we're less interested in discussing them. That's how I've got out of fandoms in the past really.

For few things, yes, it's the same. but it's just for comic book. My tv shows and movier fandoms, I'll always love them, and actually, the more time passes since a show's end, the more I happen to like it. I'm still so much into X-files or ER, it's crazy!

I'm not saying you're not into tv shows, etc. when they end. I just mean that it's harder to be part of a fandom because there's not as much out there as there used to be. Other people often move on and even though you still love it, there's limited things out there to take part in.

Or maybe that's just for smaller fandoms.

Hard tp say. All I know is that I'm more into X-Files and stargate fandoms now than I sued to when the shows still aired...
