I Think I Wanna Marry You, Skins!

Nov 17, 2012 22:23

I've been working all hours this week, well, when I say all hours I mean from 1pm until 8pm every day (except today, I did my usual 4-7pm). Basically a new store is opening in another town and because someone went to help with that I got given extra hours, which I think is fantastic. It means I'll have some extra money just in time for Christmas.

I had to buy some new shoes because I have to wear a dress and prior to doing the extra hours I simply got to wear jeans and a t-shirt (though I wore smart trousers and a shirt - but got to wear trainers). So I forked out for a decent pair of proper leather shoes. My feet hate fake leather, it used to give me athletes foot when I was younger so I decided it was best to make sure I had a good, solid pair of shoes.

Anyway, at work there are the same songs played on a bit of a loop with Christmas songs intertwined with non-Christmassy ones, it's lovely really because I get to hear a handful of songs I like and a few new ones to me.

The most notable is I Think I Wanna Marry You, it always makes me think of this lip dub video!

On Monday I had a very special trip to Manchester to the set of Skins. Anyone who knows me from before LiveJournal and from the Skins fandom will know how much Skins means to me. I've really taken part in the fandom for several years now and have written countless pieces of fanfiction. I've laughed, I've cried and I've celebrated every moment of Skins since I started watching with the wonderful people I've met through the show.

And on Monday I got to sit in a tiny bedroom with half a dozen crew members to watch some filming. It was something special, something that I will always cherish. I got to hang out with some of the cast, Lily, Kathryn and Kaya, who I adore completely. Naomily were the biggest part of Skins for me and though I've always had up and down feelings about Effy, Kaya is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met. In the short time that I was there she made me feel so welcome.

I can't believe how lucky I am to have been given this opportunity, and right on my doorstep! (Not literally, but Manchester is rather close to my home town, which is a lot closer than Bristol or London).

I also got to meet the guy fron Fonejacker, Kayvan Novak, he was a nice chap.

I've had such an amazing week, I just can't even put it all into words...the fun of my set visit, the crazy goings on at work, just...wonderful.

Oh and to conclude, I had my final appointment at the doctors on Thursday regarding my depression. I have to keep taking my medication for another couple of weeks, every other day and then I'm done. Free of medication and hopefully free of depression. I'm so happy. I just hope that my writing drive returns...

Finally, when watching the I Think I Wanna Marry You lip dub I found this rather funny video...you should watch it AFTER watching the live lip dub.
