I started my new job on Monday evening, it's a relatively easy job but there's something really enjoyable about it.
I've always had a strange love of all things weird; stuffing envelopes, organising files, putting books in alphabetical order. I imagine I'd fit in quite well at a library.
For the mean time (at least until Christmas) I'm going to be replenishing stock.
I work in 'accessories and shoes' though it's been more sleepwear and underwear. Not only have I found countless pyjamas I'd love to get for Christmas (I always get PJs for Christmas) but I've also found some lovely bras I wouldn't mind buying when I do get paid.
I replace what has been bought throughout the day, so if someone has bought a pair of tights or some underwear, I put the exact same thing back on the shelf.
A big part of the job seems to be putting things back into size order and fixing any problems of items being on the wrong shelf. Which I love! It really plays to my OCD tendencies, which I know everyone has about something, apparently making sure clothes are in size order makes me happy.
My back is a little achey after each shift, but three hours a day isn't working out too badly for me. I get most of the day to relax and I no longer sit there at night thinking 'what can I do to keep myself occupied?'
Day four tomorrow and the shop is open late, so I get to do my job with the odd customer hanging around! (They are usually hanging around for the first half hour, then we get free run of the shop, it'll be a little harder moving stock around. I can't always control the big rails very well.)
