My comments on Skins series six episode two...I really can't say too much without a cut, so I want you all to look at the beautiful icon of Grace, who had a big role in this episode.
I can’t quite find the right words.
Perhaps there aren’t any?
The most significant thing that I seem to have taken from this episode of Skins is the fact that I cannot cry. I didn’t realise it before and well, I’ve heard people saying that they couldn’t cry because of anti-depressants and tonight I got to go through that.
I hate it. I really do because I wasn’t crying at something sad, well I was, I was crying at a television show. Something which I love to do, sooo much. If I cry at a television show or a film or a book then I know that I loved it dearly.
This feeling, it was like, I could feel the tears wanting to come…but there was something in the way.
It makes me feel sad, which is ironic, considering my anti-depressants are designed to stop me feeling sad.
Actually, no, that wasn’t the most significant thing, really. That was just the most personal.
Tonight’s episode of Skins was based around the character Rich. He’s a metal head and he basically says fuck you to the world, always.
Only, now his girlfriend has gone and had an accident and we are lead to believe that she’s woken up, that she’s doing okay and that her father has taken her away to Switzerland to get better.
But she didn’t get better. She never even woke up.
And this whole episode was this massive mind fuck.
I didn’t realise until later on, when Grace turned up in the middle of a performance that Alo and Rich held in the middle of Grace’s parents’ house. Why she would be there without her parents I don’t know, which was why I was scared, as Rich went upstairs and found her in her room, in her bed, naked…we got this really beautiful, amazing, stunning love making.
Then he woke up.
And reality set in.
I’m stunned. Despite sort of knowing due to spoilers jumping in front of me before I could escape them and well, I didn’t expect it in many ways either.
I didn’t want this, nobody did.
Rich and Grace, they were the first proper pairing of generation three. They fell in love and they were beautiful together and though he was being a boy about it all, he loved her. He truly, fucking loved her.
And now she’s gone…
