Holiday snaps: Lanzarote

Mar 02, 2013 21:08

Morning LJ-world and long time no see. And a very, ridiculously-way-behind-schedule Happy New Year to all. I´m aware it´s been over two months. First I was busy, then I got a really nasty cold, then I went on holiday and the past week I´ve been very preoccupied with cross country skiing. As a matter of fact I´ve been trying to finish this entry for the past five days.

But let´s get on to one of those things. Second week of February I managed to get myself a bit of summer by going on vacation to Lanzarote (one of the Canary Islands in case ye be wondering).
You know what that means, don´t you: PICTURES!

This is our beautiful hotel, Costa Sal. We had an amazing time there, such a lovely place. And the staff was wonderful!

A lot of lazy days by the pool were spent here :o)

Our lovely terrace...

...where we were frequently visited by this little furball!

It is summer, it is sun, it is.... the biathlon world championship on the telly. Norwegians on holiday in February - what can you expect...?!

The beach within walking distance

We did go on an outing too, mind you. This is from Timanfaya, the national park. Lanzarote is pretty much made up of volcanos and a trip to that part feels like entering the far side of the moon.

No, this is NOT Tatooine, although if you let your mind slip for a moment, you partly expect Jawas to show up any second!

This shot is so perfectly ridiculous that I just had to post it. My friend Kat and myself call it our vampire shot. Kamikaze was involved. I will say no more.

The hotel bartender Mike was in addition to being a great bloke, also a fabulous maker of cocktails. Allow me to illustrate:

Sangria. Peril in a small jug with fruit. It looks so damn innocent, right?

These... I don´t even know. All I know is that it was the last evening, I kept calling the one to the right for BLUUUEE MOOOOOOOOOOON!!! and Mike never bothered to correct me.

I asked for a Piña Colada and got a New Years Eve celebration. Whoa!

This is for pleasant_valley. One evening we went to an Irish pub with karaoke and great people. We were about to leave when someone began this. And it make me think of you Sam :o)
