Apparently I am not posting enough! I don't think that can be right. Admittedly, I have been all busy and stuff at work, and these days if I see, say, a pigeon using a zebra crossing, I now tell my flatmates instead of the internet. Also, I do not have thoughts which are more interesting than "Oh look, there's a pigeon using a zebra crossing". But I'll give it a go anyway...

Work last week was fairly chaotic what with people actually wanting to buy one of our records - what next?! My dad is nobly trying to keep up with what I do at work these days, and offered the following explanation for why Florence And The Machine had outsold Vampire Weekend in the album charts:

"I’ve heard of Florence And The Machine! I always imagine it’s Florence from The Magic Roundabout, with a machine. But what were your band called? Vampire Weekend? That sounds horrible! Why would I want to listen to them?"

Anyway, I went to the Vampire Weekend gig at Somerset House, which was awfully quiet, but it was fun to hang around with friedslice and shewho for a while and lament my cold toes. Then hoshuteki and I went to the cinema and saw Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, which was ace! Because Ian Dury and the Blockheads are ace, and because there was a lot of interesting stuff in the storyline about him trying to bring up his son, and the horrible school for children with disabilities which he was sent to (and the children were played by actors with disabilities, for a change). The next day, Scottish Sweary Guy bought the soundtrack and played it for us all in the office, which made a morning of deleting barcodes from a spreadsheet a lot more fun.

On Saturday I went to a pantomime with the Brownies, and then I went up to Islington to admire voiceofsauron's new flat and see more nice people. Ewan gave me some owl biscuits, and internetsdairy tried to persuade me that I should stop being afraid of squid because they were very much like owls. He made quite a compelling argument! However, squid have tentacles and can therefore grab my ankles and drag me to the bottom of the ocean, and this will never be endearing.

Yesterday I visited pink_weasel, who gave me a lot of encouraging knitting advice and showed me the amazing shawls she's made. We watched Mannequin On The Move, the sequel to Mannequin, which she found abandoned outside her local charity shop in a box of things they were unable to sell.

Apart from that, I've mostly been hanging out at home, because Battersea is good. Brief overview of exciting things that have happened at home recently:

1. I went up to the top floor of my building and looked out of the window! I don't know why it took me four months to get around to it; what's the point of living in a tall building otherwise? I'm pretty sure that the high altitude I climbed to was the reason I was so out-of-breath, and it was nothing to do with me being embarrassingly unfit...

2. Our fusebox caught fire! They're probably not supposed to do that!

3. We played the Battlestar Galactica boardgame! I have never seen this programme so now believe that the characters are all Kevan's friends, and that humans and Cylons have to wear different kinds of comedy hats.

4. roz_mcclure came round to visit and we drank red wine and amused ourselves immensely by discussing how much hoshuteki looks like Tintin.

5. We spend so much time contemplating the blackbirds that hop around outside our window that Gmail now shows me adverts for bird seed as soon as I log in.

6. Oh, lots of other things, but this post is getting too long!
